Fundraising Strategy and Planning
Turn your fundraising priorities into a plan your team can carry forward.
A clear fundraising plan helps your organization decide where to focus, what to do next, and how to make the best use of its time and relationships. I work with nonprofit leaders and teams to build annual or multi-year strategies that align with your mission, goals, and available capacity.
The result is a focused roadmap with realistic priorities, clear next steps, and shared understanding across the people who will help move the work forward.
What we’ll work on together
Every organization is starting from a different place. Depending on your needs, we may:
- Review your fundraising history, donor information, current plans, and capacity
- Identify promising opportunities and areas that need attention
- Clarify fundraising goals and the revenue mix needed to support them
- Set priorities across individual giving, major gifts, grants, and events
- Strengthen donor communications and relationship-building
- Refine a major-gift or grant portfolio
- Clarify how the executive director, board, staff, and volunteers can contribute
- Identify systems or processes that would make the work more effective
The plan may also include a calendar, roles and responsibilities, and simple ways to track progress. We’ll focus on the pieces that will be useful to your organization.
A plan built for your organization’s capacity
A strategy is only useful if your team can act on it. We’ll consider the staff time, volunteer involvement, donor relationships, and resources available before setting priorities.
Together, we’ll shape a plan that helps your team focus on the most important work, build momentum over time, and adjust as you learn. You’ll have a clearer path forward and a shared understanding of who is responsible for each step.
What to expect
We’ll start by learning about your organization, its goals, current fundraising, and the questions you’re trying to answer. I may review existing plans and data and speak with key staff or volunteers, depending on the scope.
From there, I’ll help you identify priorities and develop a practical roadmap. We’ll review it together, make adjustments, and clarify what should happen next.
Is this the right fit?
Fundraising strategy and planning may be a good fit if your organization:
- Needs to decide which fundraising opportunities to prioritize
- Has a plan that needs updating or translating into action
- Wants stronger alignment among staff, leadership, and the board
- Is ready to build or strengthen individual giving, major gifts, or its grant portfolio
- Wants a plan that reflects the organization’s actual capacity
If you need ongoing support to carry out the work, interim or fractional fundraising leadership may be a better fit. We can talk through what you need and determine the right scope.
Support beyond the plan
- The plan can be a stand-alone engagement or the beginning of a longer partnership. If you’d like support putting it into action, I can stay involved through fractional fundraising support or coaching.
- That might mean a focused one-hour coaching session per month or part-time support to help move priorities forward. We’ll shape the level and duration around what your organization needs and revisit it as the work progresses.
Let’s talk about your fundraising goals and the plan that could help you move toward them.
